This year’s annual holiday gift guide is HERE! Check out these 10 gift ideas for anyone on your list.
It’s officially the most wonderful time of the year!
This year, I got into the holiday spirit a little early. Usually I’m a strict nothing-Christmas-until-after-Thanksgiving person, but this year I couldn’t help myself. My roommate and I were both out of town for Thanksgiving, and it just sounded so nice to come home after a long week off to a decorated apartment. So our tree was up before Thanksgiving and I’ve already made a dent in my balsam candles. I’m even almost done with my Christmas shopping. Which, WHAT? (Last year, I was picking up last-minute gifts for my mom ON CHRISTMAS EVE. So this is huge.)
My second annual gift guide is full of my current favorites, along with a few items I’ve been lusting after.
Shop my favorites from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
It’s that time of year again!
Every summer, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is the best time to stock up on your favorite fall pieces, from a fresh pair of booties to cozy knits and cool new jackets. They also have a great mix of summer stuff that you can wear (or float on, or drink out of) through the rest of the warmer months. (Plus there are always amazing beauty bundles, so you can save on your favorite products!)
And the best part about this sale is that it’s not discounted stuff that didn’t sell from last season—it’s a mix of old favorites and new releases for fall, perfect for scooping up the best deals before the season starts. I woke up this morning and it literally felt like Christmas (I have a problem).
Early access to the sale for Nordstrom cardholders started today, but the sale opens to the public July 21 and runs through August 6, so there’s still plenty of time to shop. But the most popular items sell out FAST, so be sure to snag your favorites while you can!
After combing through the catalog and digging through everything online and in store, these are the things I’m loving from this year’s #NSale.
UPDATE: Some have sold out, but lots of my picks are still available! I’ve added a few other things I’ve been shopping from the sale below that are all in stock, too!
Get started on gifting with these gift ideas for friends, sisters, moms, etc. (or just for yourself!).
It’s officially that time of year! Aside from all of the great sales and deals, my favorite part of Black Friday every year is seeing everyone’s holiday gift guides. I’ve been making my holiday wish list for quite some time now, so I wanted to share my picks (both things I’ve already picked up this season and what I’ll be asking Santa for) to help make holiday shopping a little easier.
You can’t go wrong with a new winter coat or cozy scarf (the Free People scarf comes in nine colors and I’ve been wearing it nonstop), and I love this oversized sweater (get it on sale today!) and wrap choker. Beauty buys always make great gifts, too. The Beachwaver’s been on my list for a while now, and I use this Tarte palette and blush in the shade Exposed every single day. I love Tarte products because they last all day and are super wearable and cruelty-free. The water bottle and candle are great for anyone on your list and also make the perfect hostess or secret Santa gifts. And for something techy, a DSLR camera has been on my Christmas list forever, so I finally splurged this year. I’ve been absolutely LOVING this camera so far and would highly recommend it!
Protect your skin and look cute at the beach in Mott 50 clothing, swimwear and activewear. Co-founder Anne Reilly shares her favorite pieces from the line and summer essentials.
Whether you’re on vacation at the beach or at a street festival in the city, it’s important to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Sunscreen is an obvious summer essential, but have you ever heard about or tried sun-protective clothing?
I recently had the chance to interview Anne Reilly for NS Magazine about her line Mott 50—which has been featured in Vogue, People StyleWatch, SELF and countless other mags—and her North Shore summer favorites.
I tried the clothes out for myself, and they’re super soft, lightweight and great-quality. I also love how versatile the line is, with everything from swimsuits to day-to-night maxi dresses and cute comfy leggings. I’ve even been wearing a few of the pieces to the office! So you can really dress them up or down.

It’s the best time of year—the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! If you’re a Nordstrom cardholder, you’ve probably already checked out the early-access sale, but it officially opens up to the public tomorrow.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is my favorite time to stock up on cute new fall clothes, big cozy sweaters, boots, and sale-exclusive makeup palettes and beauty bundles (the Anastasia Brow Studio Set is the best deal!). They also have the cutest home accessories on sale (I LOVE these cute beer glasses), and you can always find great high-end candles for good prices.
Three first date outfits for any occasion—from a baseball game to a rooftop happy hour.
The biggest dilemma before any first date is always what to wear.
I’m partnering with Coffee Meets Bagel to help you find the perfect first date outfit—and the perfect first date.
Coffee Meets Bagel is a free dating app that curates just a few matches for you each day—usually people you have mutual friends with—so you don’t have to swipe through endless profiles of guys you’re not into. They’re launching a brand new #LadiesChoice update, which means you’ll now only see matches who’ve already said they’re interested in you, putting you in total control of who you match with and talk to.
I first heard of CMB on Shark Tank last year, and then a few months later my friend was telling me about his new girlfriend who he met on the app (they’re still together, now living together!). One of my coworkers also met her boyfriend on the app, so I thought I’d give it a try.
These three super cute first-date outfits are inspired from looks my friends and I would wear on a summer date. Check them out and let me know which is your favorite!
If you’re going on a casual day date, this outfit is perfect—cute and comfy and it doesn’t look like you’re trying too hard. Off-the-shoulder tops are such a huge trend for summer, and I love the look of a fresh white top with ripped jeans and Converse. The ear climbers add a little edge, and this Rebecca Minkoff crossbody bag is my summer go-to. In need of a few day date ideas? Check out the zoo, go to a baseball game, or do something touristy in your own city (like spending the day at Navy Pier in Chicago!).
Three 4th of July outfit ideas that aren’t just for the 4th.
The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays to dress for.
From red, white and blue rompers and easy flowy dresses to cute graphic tees and tanks, there are so many fun options that you can wear all summer long.
To celebrate the holiday weekend, I headed up north to Door County, Wisconsin with friends for a few days, and everyone had such cute and festive outfits that I wanted to share!
I absolutely loved this Free People tunic and it was so perfect for Kelsey’s birthday party on July 3. It looks so cute with these fringe heels, but I ended up just going barefoot and pairing it with a cream-colored bralette for a more casual vibe. (I’ve also been loving all of the Stella & Dot layering pieces—I never take off my new engravable bar necklace!)
This comes at the perfect time, too, since I just moved into a new apartment this month, so the trunk show is the perfect excuse to have a few friends over to shop the collection, see the new apartment and have a glass of wine.
In preparation, I’ve been scoping out the brand new summer collection—which launched earlier this month—and picking out my favorite pieces.
It’s finally getting warmer in Chicago! Which means one thing: romper season is almost here.
Rompers are hands down the easiest, most versatile summer wardrobe staples. It’s so easy to throw on one piece and look totally put together with zero effort. And when you’re going from a late brunch/lunch on a patio to nighttime drinks on a rooftop, a romper is the perfect day-to-night outfit. Just throw on some heels and a cool jacket.
This summer, I’m stepping up my romper game and investing in a few fun pieces that I’ll be wearing all summer long.
Shopping for two weeks of TV appearances is not easy. Thanks to Stella & Dot stylist Marni Smith, Kaitlin was decked out in the cutest new jewelry and had something fun and pretty to wear for each of the My Big Fat TODAY Wedding segments leading up to the big day.
The bride-to-be was all about layering pieces. Lots of dainty gold necklaces, stacking and wrap bracelets, and statement earrings.
“It was so fun to get dressed up and go on the show every day,” Kaitlin says. “I’m going to miss it!”
