Protect your skin and look cute at the beach in Mott 50 clothing, swimwear and activewear. Co-founder Anne Reilly shares her favorite pieces from the line and summer essentials.
Whether you’re on vacation at the beach or at a street festival in the city, it’s important to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Sunscreen is an obvious summer essential, but have you ever heard about or tried sun-protective clothing?
I recently had the chance to interview Anne Reilly for NS Magazine about her line Mott 50—which has been featured in Vogue, People StyleWatch, SELF and countless other mags—and her North Shore summer favorites.
I tried the clothes out for myself, and they’re super soft, lightweight and great-quality. I also love how versatile the line is, with everything from swimsuits to day-to-night maxi dresses and cute comfy leggings. I’ve even been wearing a few of the pieces to the office! So you can really dress them up or down.
Start shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale now!
It’s the best time of year—the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! If you’re a Nordstrom cardholder, you’ve probably already checked out the early-access sale, but it officially opens up to the public tomorrow.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is my favorite time to stock up on cute new fall clothes, big cozy sweaters, boots, and sale-exclusive makeup palettes and beauty bundles (the Anastasia Brow Studio Set is the best deal!). They also have the cutest home accessories on sale (I LOVE these cute beer glasses), and you can always find great high-end candles for good prices.
Three first date outfits for any occasion—from a baseball game to a rooftop happy hour.
The biggest dilemma before any first date is always what to wear.
I’m partnering with Coffee Meets Bagel to help you find the perfect first date outfit—and the perfect first date.
Coffee Meets Bagel is a free dating app that curates just a few matches for you each day—usually people you have mutual friends with—so you don’t have to swipe through endless profiles of guys you’re not into. They’re launching a brand new #LadiesChoice update, which means you’ll now only see matches who’ve already said they’re interested in you, putting you in total control of who you match with and talk to.
I first heard of CMB on Shark Tank last year, and then a few months later my friend was telling me about his new girlfriend who he met on the app (they’re still together, now living together!). One of my coworkers also met her boyfriend on the app, so I thought I’d give it a try.
These three super cute first-date outfits are inspired from looks my friends and I would wear on a summer date. Check them out and let me know which is your favorite!
If you’re going on a casual day date, this outfit is perfect—cute and comfy and it doesn’t look like you’re trying too hard. Off-the-shoulder tops are such a huge trend for summer, and I love the look of a fresh white top with ripped jeans and Converse. The ear climbers add a little edge, and this Rebecca Minkoff crossbody bag is my summer go-to. In need of a few day date ideas? Check out the zoo, go to a baseball game, or do something touristy in your own city (like spending the day at Navy Pier in Chicago!).
Emily Giffin on her new summer release, First Comes Love, why the Chicago stop on her book tour will be better than ever, and Something Blue movie details.
Emily Giffin’s new book is HERE!
Emily’s been one of my favorite authors since her first book, Something Borrowed, was released 10 years ago. Since then, she’s written seven more books, including the #1 New York Times bestselling hit The One & Only.
You can always count on Emily for a great beach read, and First Comes Love is no exception. I flew through it in one weekend at the pool and couldn’t wait to share it with you guys. She often writes about relationships, mostly romantic, but First Comes Love explores the relationship between two sisters, Josie and Meredith. Both sisters are at very different stages in in life as they figure out how to overcome grief, navigate complicated relationships and understand one another years after an unexpected tragedy strikes their family.
Emily will also be back in Chicago this year for her book tour! Her signings are always the BEST (in the past they’ve been at Bloomingdale’s and Saks, complete with a DJ, wine, desserts, etc.), and this year she’s taking it to the next level and hosting it at The Peninsula Chicago. You can still get tickets for the July 14 event!

Two easy-to-make homemade pizza recipes using fresh fruit and greens that are perfect for warmer temps.
Homemade pizza is a fun and easy at-home dinner that’s always a good idea. But for summer, I’ve been all about adding fruit to my homemade pizzas and trying different combos using whatever fresh ingredients I have on hand.
My friend Jenna first made this Strawberry & Arugula pizza for a Bachelorette watch party a few weeks ago, and her sister, Alli, makes the Peach & Basil one (I saw it on Instagram and knew I had to try it for myself!). They’re seriously so good and have both become my go-to summer pizza recipes. Plus, since the dough is pre-made they’re super quick and easy to make without a ton of prep. I always use Trader Joe’s garlic and herb pizza dough. You can buy it fresh and it’s good with every type of pizza.
These pizzas are perfect for a party, too—just cut them into bite-size pieces.
Take a peek into our weekend getaway to Door County, Wisconsin!
Happy belated 4th of July!
To celebrate the 4th this year, a few of us headed up to Door County, Wisconsin for our friend Kelsey’s 26th birthday, and we tacked on a few extra days to the end of the trip to do some relaxing and refresh for the week ahead.
We had the absolute best time celebrating Kelsey on the 3rd, seeing my first drive-in movie on the 4th (Finding Dory!), and riding jet skis, laying out by the water, and exploring Door County the rest of the trip. I loved walking around Fish Creek, where we ate lunch at The Cookery and did some local shopping.
Here are a few photos we took while we were there!
Three 4th of July outfit ideas that aren’t just for the 4th.
The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays to dress for.
From red, white and blue rompers and easy flowy dresses to cute graphic tees and tanks, there are so many fun options that you can wear all summer long.
To celebrate the holiday weekend, I headed up north to Door County, Wisconsin with friends for a few days, and everyone had such cute and festive outfits that I wanted to share!
I absolutely loved this Free People tunic and it was so perfect for Kelsey’s birthday party on July 3. It looks so cute with these fringe heels, but I ended up just going barefoot and pairing it with a cream-colored bralette for a more casual vibe. (I’ve also been loving all of the Stella & Dot layering pieces—I never take off my new engravable bar necklace!)
